Where to start with a clean eating lifestyle...
I had a really good question from one of my followers Lisa, asking about where to start with a clean eating lifestyle...Start with your pantry – remove all the sugary, processed items (This isn't as crazy as it sounds!). I started a little slower with my family, introducing foods such as bulghur wheat, quinoa and brown rice pastas, quinoa and brown rice, removing all the simple carbs like pasta and white rice. I converted all my baking recipes to clean, replacing the sugar with a natural sweetener, butter with healthy oils or unsweetened apple sauce and white flour with wholewheat. Remember, the less processed the better for you and your family.I don’t shop much in the middle isle, sticking to the outer isles of fresh vegetables, fruit and lean meat including fish, chicken, turkey and beef. The boys and I love porridge and I don’t waste money on sugary, processed cereals and snacks.
I make my own muesli bars and biscuits with seeds, nuts, oats and mixed fruit. I buy organic where I can, but have to be realistic with my budget too.There are many ways to get your family involved, I let the boys help cook and they are more keen to eat all their dinner when they do! Once you get into it, you realise the options are endless.Once you get used to living a clean lifestyle (not a diet), you will realise there is a lot less work and cooking. Meals are more nutritious, filling and flavorsome and you will feel amazing! SO have fun, get creative and give it a go - you have nothing to lose and everything to gain! Do you want it enough?
